Sonja Blomdahl Biography

Sonja Blomdahl

Sonja Blomdahl received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art, and studied at the Orrefors Glass Factory in Sweden. In 1983 she built her own glass studio and has worked as an independent artist in Seattle since that time. Sonja currently serves on the board of advisors for the Pratt Fine Arts Center. She has taught at the Haystack Mountain School, the Pilchuck Glass School, Summervail Workshop, Pratt Fine Arts Center and the Appalachian Center for Crafts.

Blomdahl has been the recipient of an Artist's Trust Fellowship Grant from Washington State and the NEA Visual Arts Fellowship Grant.

Her works can be found in many collections and museums, including the American Craft Museum of New York, the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, the Renwick Gallery, National Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, and the White House Collection of American Craft in Washington, DC.
