Dinosaur by Lino Tagliapietra
This is definitely one of the most striking pieces I have seen from Lino Tagliapietra’s signature "Dinosaur" series. In a series where all of the pieces are elegant, I have to say that the form here is exceedingly elegant. And the unusual color combination makes this a truly unique piece by the Maestro.

Lurid Naive Tornado by Steven Powell
This new piece by Stephen Powell is masterful. The form, the concentric circles, the exquisite color combination, all make it one of my favorites that Stephen has created in recent years

         Overlapping Chevrons by John Kiley
In contrast to some of the other works featured here this month and also in contrast to most of the work that John Kiley had created until the last couple of years, here we have a minimalist, reductionist piece so subtle and so lovely that we might easily hold our breath for a moment as we behold it in awe.

Cobalt Currents Orb by Nancy Callan
Here is my newest Nancy Callan piece. The simplicity of the globular form is the perfect backdrop for the exquisite white pattern of white cane work. The addition of a ribbon of charcoal which swirls throughout the piece adds an artistic tension which transcends the decorative. |

Tree Bubble Study by David Schwarz
David Schwarz is creating some very compelling new works in his "Tree Bubble Study" series. Those of you who have followed the evolution of David’s work, as I have for the 25 or so years that I have represented him, will appreciate the innovative addition of the branch-like stand which echoes the tree motif on the surface of the piece. As always, David’s work has great depth and is as interesting in its optical qualities as it is in its surface embellishment.

Maya Blue Persian Pair by Dale Chihuly
I like this 2014 Studio Edition so well that I decided to feature it again in this month’s newsletter. Its sumptuous blues and vivid orange are yet another testimonial to Chihuly’s bold use of color. The molded ribs create an eloquent movement which is accentuated by the fire red lip wrap. For a relatively small glass sculpture, this piece makes a very dramatic impression. |
