Note from Kenn Holsten

Greetings. I sincerely hope that this note finds you and your families well. My wife Christine and I are both well and, like many Americans, sheltering at home except for our daily walks in nature. We are doing our best to practice gratitude for all of the blessings in our lives and reaching out to as many friends and loved ones as we can in solidarity during this extraordinary time.

This letter is not about selling glass, but reaching out to you as a member of our glass community. What I’d like to offer are an excerpt from a poem which I hope you will find inspiring and uplifting, and an image which will hopefully puts a smile on your face.

Know that our lives

are in one another’s hands.

Do not reach out your hands.

Reach out your hearts.

Reach out your words.

Reach out all the tendrils

of compassion that move, invisibly

where we cannot touch.

If we look carefully around us, we can begin to see some silver linings to the huge shift we are seeing on our planet. We are all reaching out to friends, neighbors and loved ones with greater frequency and care than our busy schedules normally allow. On the environmental front, perhaps you have seen images online of the great improvement in our ozone situation. Some of the most wonderful images I have seen are of the canals in Venice, which are clear for the first time in decades. Fish can be seen and even the dolphins are beginning to appear.

May you and your loved ones be safe, stay well and God bless!
