Greetings! This time of year the skies seem to be even bluer than usual here in high-altitude Santa Fe. Blue happens to be my favorite color and, over the years, I have noticed that many glass collectors gravitate towards the blue color range in their selections. This month I’ve decided to feature outstanding blue pieces by some of my favorite artists. As always, I look forward to hearing your comments and questions. |

Pavone This exquisite piece by the Maestro is a study in blue and green murini. The stately form is fairly unique in Lino’s extensive repertoire of shapes. |
Aphelion Heike Brachlow was born in Munich and has worked in Essex, UK, for many years. She has shown and taught extensively in the UK and U.S. Her work explores the relationship of color, form and light. I love the elegance and simplicity of Aphelion. |

Jealous Enigmatic Whipper What a wonderful piece by the late, great artist Stephen Powell. As in many of Stephen’s works, I find this piece super colorful and playful yet stately at the same time. As in all of his work, the employment of murini is masterful. |
Torso IX Many of California artist Latchezar Boyadjiev’s cast glass sculptures are abstractly figurative. This piece from his Torso series is among the more abstract pieces. There is a light and lyrical quality about it that I appreciate very much. |

Bubble Study in Blue Washington state artist David Schwarz is known for his pieces of clear blown glass with colored glass overlays. His works are then faceted and etched to create illusions of perspective, optics and contrasts. This "Bubble Study" piece is a particularly strong example of that magic in David’s work. |
Thank you for spending part of your day enjoying the creations of some of the world’s most gifted glass artists. I look forward to being in touch! Kenn Holsten |
