Note from Kenn Holsten

Greetings! I’m happy to share with you some outstanding works by some of my favorite artists. I hope you enjoy this edition of Holsten Galleries News and look forward to hearing from you.

Featured Works

Contarini by Lino Tagliapietra, 16.5 x 13.5 x 5.75″

Contarini
by Lino Tagliapietra

The "Contarini" series is one of the Maestro’s lesser known but most beautiful series. I love the little "windows" of color where we can look through to the opposite side or all the way through the pieces. The color palette of this example is particularly lovely.

Peaking Giverny Blast
by Stephen Powell

Late Kentucky artist Stephen Rolfe Powell certainly deserves to be considered one of the outstanding American glass artists. Of the relatively few of his pieces still available this one is certainly one of my favorites.

Golden Sun Reach by Alex Bernstein, 7 x 8 x 9"

Golden Sun Reach
by Alex Bernstein

Here is a handsome new piece by North Carolina glass artist Alex Bernstein. The crescent shape is used frequently in Alex’s work and this is a particularly nice example of this series.

Atmosphere
by Jon Kuhn

Another well known North Carolina glass artist is Jon Kuhn. Probably his most recognizable form is the cube, almost always clear on the exterior and brightly colorful in the interior and almost always on a rotating metal base. This beautiful example of this series is no exception.

Fusion by Michael Taylor, 8" high

Fusion
by Michael Taylor

Michael Taylor is well known for his constructed geometric sculptures which are almost always dramatically colorful. This is a smaller Taylor piece which, nonetheless, is quite impactful. It can be viewed from almost any angle and seem almost like a different piece.

Thanks, as always, for spending part of your day enjoying some of the most beautiful glass art in the world. I look forward to staying in touch.

Warm wishes,

Kenn Holsten
