Note from Kenn Holsten

Greetings! I hope this current edition of Holsten Galleries News finds you and your families well. This month I am focusing on the life and work of Maestro Lino Tagliapietra. I hope that you enjoy it and I look forward to hearing from you with any comments or questions you might have.

I have had the pleasure and honor of working with Lino Tagliapeitra for over 40 years. As most of you are well aware, Italian glass maestro Lino Tagliapietra is widely considered to be the greatest living glassblower in the world. Today I want to share some wonderful Lino works which I have just added to my inventory and also to let you know about two very special Lino events. The first is his design for the 2025 Winter Olympics torch and the other is the wonderful feature documentary Sono Lino.

Olympic Flame

Something very special occurred at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy. "Drop of Fire," designed by Lino Tagliapietra, held the venerable olympic flame. It was brought out by Italian cross country ski champions and then held by the champion Arianna Fontana, Italian short track speed skater and the most decorated Italian athlete in Olympic history. Holding Drop of Fire in her hands, she extinguished the Olympic Flame and brought the Games to a close in an intense and moving moment.

Documentary Sono Lino

The other big Lino news is that access to the special 2025 documentary Sono Lino expires on March 31. To view this exceptional film on the life and work of the Maestro, go to www.sonolino.com. If you have not already watched this definitive Lino film, please don’t miss this opportunity. Once purchased for a nominal fee, it can be streamed and/or saved for future viewings.
