Featured Artists

The sumptuous coloring and textural surface of “Grey into Blue” captures a moment of suspended movement of her imagined equine subject. This wonderful sculpture is both graceful and playful.

This elegant piece by maestro Lino Tagliapietra is one of my all time favorite pieces. It is a sophisticated glass sculpture and at the same time a wonderful painting.

Marvin Lipofsky was known above all for his flowing, organic forms. But his work was also often extremely painterly, often employing somewhat unusual palettes of color. This piece from his Australian Landscape series is certainly no exception.

One of Nancy Callan’s most iconic series is her “Clouds.” “Sonata Cloud” is prototypical in its form and has an extraordinary combination of rich colors.

Brainy Red Lurch

Earlier this month I sent out a special edition of Holsten Galleries News, featuring some classic Stephen Powell pieces that I have managed to gather. One piece that did not get included in that mailing is a particularly fine example of his so-called Screamer series. “Brainy Red Lurch” is so rich in color and so successful sculpturally that I wanted to include it in this edition.
