Note from Kenn Holsten

Greetings. I hope that this note finds you and your loved ones well. My wife Christine and I are enjoying quiet times at home and in nature. We feel blessed to be well. I want to share with you some beautiful glass art in hopes that it will brighten your day. I look forward to staying in touch.

Quote of the Month

"There is a vitality, a life-force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost."

– Martha Graham

Featured Works

Fenice
& Africa

by Lino Tagliapietra

I have just received some new Lino Tagliapietra works and I would like to share two very special pieces with you.

One of Lino Tagliapietra’s most beloved and unique series are the "Fenices." This one is particularly graceful and expressive. The color palette, the surface cutting and the overall gestural form combine to make this one of the most beautiful pieces I have seen in this series.

I love this piece from Lino Tagliapietra’s less known "Africa" series because it is so painterly. More than almost any Lino Tagliapietra works I’ve seen this piece appears to have overlaying brush strokes in a style reminiscent of some of the abstract expressionist painters of the 1960’s. To create this effect in acrylic or oil is one thing but to achieve it in glass is quite another.

Fenice by Lino Tagliapietra, 9.75 x 3 x 14.75″

Africa by Lino Tagliapietra, 18.25 x 18.25 x 9.75″

Sonata Cloud by Nancy Callan, 13.5 x 18.5 x 9″

Sonata Cloud
by Nancy Callan

Her "Clouds" are one of Nancy Callan’s most iconic series. The form of this Cloud piece is especially nice. The color palette is subtle but quite impactful and the cane work is truly masterful.

Colorways #11
by Dorothy Hafner

I have always loved Dorothy Hafner’s colorful panels. Each panel is just under 15" square. Her colors are dramatic and these works look equally great on a pedestal or table or wall mounted.

Green and Blue Wavy Leaf by Dante Marioni,
43.75 x 10.5 x 2.5”

Green and Blue Wavy Leaf
by Dante Marioni

Dante himself told me recently that this piece is one of the best in his studio. As in all of Dante’s work, the technique is masterful. The spot on color combination and the great optics make this piece a stand out.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to enjoy some beautiful glass art. May we all stay safe and well in this challenging time.
