Note from Kenn Holsten

Greetings. I hope that this note finds you well and enjoying springtime and what is hopefully the beginning of the end of the pandemic. It’s been a long year and we are enjoying being out and about again. I have chosen a few pieces to share with you that should brighten your day. As always, please do be in touch with any comments or questions.

Featured Works

Today I had a hard time deciding which of two Lino Tagliapietra pieces to feature. In the end I decided to share both.

Spigoitondi
by Lino Tagliapietra

This Lino piece is rather unique in many ways. Most obviously, it is rectangular instead of the maestro’s typical curvilinear forms. I love the palette Lino chose in creating this piece and also the great depth of the piece.

Borneo by Lino Tagliapietra, 12 x 10.25 x 10.25″

Borneo
by Lino Tagliapietra

This is one of the smallest Lino pieces I have had for a long time, standing at only 12 inches tall. To me this piece is a little gem. Perfectly executed, like all of Lino’s works, but in this smaller scale the technical brilliance is all the more evident.

Primavera Orb

by Nancy Callan

This beautiful piece by Nancy Callan is so joyful and upbeat. It reminds me of the sun on a warm spring day.

Primavera Orb by Nancy Callan, 17.5 x 17.5 x 17.5″

Stung Uranium by Paul Schwieder,
19 x 10 x 10″

Stung Uranium
by Paul Schwieder

This beautiful glass sculpture by Paul Schwieder has a luminosity almost as if it were lit from within. At first glance we might assume this to be a cast piece but it is actually blown and then sandblasted. I love the color of this piece.

Yellow Print
by Dante Marioni

This is a new piece by Seattle based glass artist Dante Marioni. As in all of Dante’s blown glass sculptures this piece is technically perfect. I love the intricate cane work which in this piece is done in almost a patchwork style.

Yellow Print by Dante Marioni, 31 x 13 x 5″

Thanks for taking a few moments to enjoy some great glass art by some of the finest glass artists in the world!
